健康で”ルン”　旅＆食

蒋介石の住んだ士林官邸。　今では、公園として開放されている。




士林駅から、歩いていってみた。人に尋ねながら、たどり着く。　

小雨が降ったりやんだり。中に入る。




かなり広い。雨にぬれて、緑がいっそう鮮やかに見える。




中は、中国風庭園、英国風（欧州風？）庭園、薔薇園、など緑豊か。







米国加州を思わせるユーカリの並木道も。

生態園には、池とさまざまな植物。










中国風の建物となんとチャペルもあった。

敷地の奥まったところに蒋介石の住居が。



ただいま工事中で入れない。

台湾人の友人によると、放火されたとのこと。グレーの大きなお屋敷だった。







官邸公園の後ろには、かなり高い山、台北市内ということを感じさせない。

蒋介石の官邸が修復されたら、また訪れてみたい。







This is Chiang Kai Shek Shilin Residence and it opens for public as a park. The residence, house is now under reconstruction, so, no one can see inside. I hope the restoration will be done sometime soon and I would like to see the residence in my future visit to Taiwan. This park consists of Chinese styled garden, western styled garden, rose garden, outdoor concert hall, eco garden and even private chapel. According to guide, Chiang Kai Shek passed away in the residence here in 1975. The park opened for public in 1996. Visiting this beautiful open space with historical value made rainy day enjoyable in Taipei.

台北の北、士林にある郭元益糕餅博物館へ。

このお菓子屋さんは、台湾人の間では、かなり有名なお店とのこと。



地下鉄で士林駅へ、そこから北の方向に歩いて5−6分のところ。

残念ながら、博物館の中は撮影禁止。



行ってみると、これから開けてくれるとのこと。

糕餅のパティシエが館内を案内、原材料などについて説明してくれた。



創業は1867年。140年の伝統菓子屋。

1階では菓子を販売していたので、購入。



椅子もあったので、お茶でも注文できるのかと思ったら、それはだめ。

仕方なくお菓子を持って帰る。

落雁のような菓子は、黒胡麻、緑豆など、甘みが上品で、日本茶にぴったり。

さすが台湾、お菓子の材料も健康にいいものが使われている。

もっと買ってくれば良かった。



士林の本店博物館のほかに、桃園に行けば工場見学ができると。

いつか機会があったら、桃園県楊梅の工場に行ってみたい。











This is Kuo Yuan Ye culture museum of cake and pastry in Shilin, Taipei. As for Taiwanese, Kuo Yuan Ye is well-known confectionary and their specialty is not only moon cake but also Taiwanese style wedding cake. Shape of Taiwanese wedding cake is flat and round, in other words, flat moon cake. Guide explained that jujube, red bean paste, lotus pip are used as filling. Displayed cookie and pastry cutters are similar to one in Japan used for Rakugan, a rice-flour cake. This museum is fairly small and don’t need more than 40 minutes; however, it tells us a history of Taiwanese cake and pastry used as special gift such as wedding.

士林夜市は有名。

ここは士林駅から北へ5分ほど歩いたところ。




表通りを歩いていたときに偶然見つけた、路地の市場。

一本路地に入ると、店があるある。



パン、魚、肉、果物、野菜、何でもある。









台風の影響で、ザーザーぶりの雨だったけれど、路地でこんな市場を発見。

屋根もあったし、おかげで写真を撮ることができた。

豆乳の有名店も角にあり、大満足。
























I found this market on my way to cake museum in Shilin. It took 5-6 minutes north from MRT Shilin station. Just a block before to the cake museum, there was a small market in alley connecting to the other side of street. Nice smell of steam buns and other food tempted me. I always think that Taiwanese does not need to cook at home because delicious food and even drinks are everywhere in at a low price. No worry about eating in Taiwan.

ソウル市内の北に位置する鐘路区の北村（ブクチョン）。

伝統的家屋が残っている地域。




そのため、撮影にも良く使われる。　



道幅は、昔のままで狭い。自動車は通れない。




伝統家屋はメンテナンスも大変。　自分で勝手に修理もできない。




友人によると、この地域の住民がデモをしたこともあったと。




理由は、“雨漏りしても、お役所の許可がないと修理できない”。　




幸運なことに、築400年以上という伝統家屋に招待された。　

家主は、『自分の家であって、自分の家でない』と。

外観は昔のままだが、内部は、許可を取って、洋式水洗トイレ。

キッチンも欧米式の最新式のもの。

『お役所は口は出すけど、お金は出さないと。』

かなりの資産がないと伝統家屋を所有し続けるのは困難のようだ。

伝統家屋の中はなかなか見られないが、外壁の様々なデザインを楽しんだ。
















The area I shoot photos is Bokchong, north part of Seoul city where many traditional Korean houses preserved by government. Quite a few films and dramas have been shooting there because of its charm of area with traditional houses, allies, and gradual hills. I have been curious to see inside of traditional house. I was lucky enough to enter the most eminent traditional house with approximately 400 years old history during my whole summer stay in Seoul. Seeing inside of house such as ceilings, window frames were well-designed and I assumed that it were Korean design. I cannot share those photos on this weblog because it is private house even it is registered as Korean cultural heritage. Another experieice of visiting Bukchong was that seeing outside walls and its unique and beautiful designs increase walls’ charm.

ワンパターンの杏仁粉入りタルト。　

今回の主役の中身は、New Zealand産　black currants。



それを、黒酢に漬けておいたもの。

黒酢は、アミノ酸でうまみが凝縮したお酢。　酸味もやさしい。

Black currents と色も　”黒“で相性がいいから漬けてみた。

このタルトには、ヨーグルトが入るので、酸味もいいかも。

ひとつはピーカンを混ぜたもの。



もうひとつは、韓国ソウル、京東市場で買った、韓国産松の実。

出来上がって、すぐに食べたときは、酢の香りがちょっとした。

冷蔵庫で冷やしておいたら、酸味はヨーグルトよりチョッと強いかなくらい。

ナッツの油脂が酸味で柔らかくなったかんじ。

黒酢、松の実、black currants 杏仁粉、それぞれ効能あり。

体にいいかなと思いながら、ティータイム！



材料：
1/2 cup almond powder 100％杏仁粉
1/2 cup flour 　小麦粉
1/3 cup sugar 　砂糖　（キビ砂糖と黒糖半々）
1 teaspoon Baking Powder 　ベーキングパウダー
1 egg 　卵
3 teaspoons plain low fat yogurt 　プレーン低脂肪ヨーグルト
1/3 cup butter　　バター　
Black currants NZ産

飾りに
Korean pine nuts 韓国産松の実
Pecan nuts 豪州産ピーカン


I finally had time for baking in overwhelmingly busy September. As you know, I just enjoy baking itself but not eating things I baked. One piece is enough for me tasting and it tells that I should change ingredients next time or so. My baking is just fun, creating something not written in recipe. So far, I think this tart with apricots, prune is the best; however, I will try making tart using other ingredients such as longan and macadamia nuts sometime soon.

ソウル市内から南へ、車で40分くらい。

ソウル大学のキャンパスがある。



山の傾斜をそのまま生かしたつくりになっている。

このあたり、ソウル市内より、気温は3−4度低いとのこと。緑の力かな。

以前、首相（？）だった人が所有していたカントリークラブが大学キャンパスになった。

ほとんど無理やりこの土地を寄付させられたそうだ。

キャンパス内が広いので、バスが走っている。




この食堂は、教職員のためのもの。研究者などのために宿泊施設も併設。

洋食や日本食も質がいいとのことだが、韓国料理を注文。

コンククスという麺は、大豆を摩り下ろして作るスープ。麺よりスープが重要とのこと。

大豆を摩り下ろしているので、豆の粒々感が残っている。たんぱく質たっぷり。








緑に囲まれて、空気がいい。　おいしい空気と昼食でお腹いっぱい。

緑のソウル大学を満喫して帰宅。


We had lunch at Hoam Faculty House in Seoul University campus. The campus is beautiful with full of greens. I was told that the campus used to be a country club owned by eminent politician and he was forced to donate his property for Seoul University campus. He donated his country club, and then campus opened in this location. Hoam faculty house has accommodation for researchers and guests who relates with Seoul University. It is far from city but guests can enjoy surrounding nature. I would like to stay sometime in fall for seeing beautiful foliage.

韓国チヂミを緑豆で。

ボストンの韓国婦人が、いつも作ってくれた。

彼女の緑豆チヂミがおいしくて、でも、しばらくボストンに行ってない。

一週間かけて作ってくれる彼女のコムタン、そして、緑豆のチヂミ、おいしかった。




韮を切っていて、何を作ろうかと考える。久しぶりに、時間もあったし。

緑豆のチヂミを思い出したが、チヂミ用の緑豆は、外側の緑の皮がないもの。

家にあったのは、皮付きの緑豆。　でも、作ってみるか。

水に1時間くらいつけて、ミキサーでビーン。

卵1個と小麦粉チョッと入れて、韮とキムチを入れて、チヂミに挑戦。

皮付きのまま使ったので、生地がうっすら緑色。




味は、おんなじ。　初めて作ってみたけれど、これはいける！

自分で作れることがわかり、また時間があったとき作ってみたい一品！

緑豆の健康効果も、いただいて、ご馳走様。


Yoonsook always use mung bean without green colored skin for Korean pancake and it can be found in any Korean store. I recall her homemade mung bean pancake at her house in Boston and have been missing it. She cooks pancake, solrongtang- beef soup, kimpab, and a lot of side dishes and all good and tasty. Her recipe is that after soaking mung bean for an hour, blend it until smooth. Mix with a egg, flour and chives, add little bit of kimchee for flavor. It is tasty and it goes with sojyu or makkori!!

生の落花生、本当に久しぶり。

2年前に、サンフランシスコの中華街で生落花生を買って、食べて以来。




そのとき、初めて生落花生を買った。

中国人の友人が一緒だったので、彼女が落花生を触りながら選んだ。

どこをどうやって、選んだのかは、私にはわからない。

『これがいい』　と彼女が言うものを買った。

『塩を入れて30分ぐらいゆでて食べる』　『高齢者に食べさせたほうがいい』と。

よく洗って、塩を入れて30分ぐらいゆでた。

炒ったピーナツとはまったく違う食感。　とてもおいしい！！

今回はそのとき以来の生落花生、をゆでて、茹で落花生。

茹で上がって食べてみた。

ほんのり塩味、中の落花生は柔らかい。とってもおいしい。

やっぱり、おつまみのピーナツとは別物。

今度はいつ食べられるか。



落花生の効能： 貧血、止血作用、血圧降下、アンチエイジング、渋皮に抗酸化作用

This is my second time finding fresh peanuts. I recalled that Cindy chose fresh peanuts at Stockton in San Francisco Chinatown. I did not know how to pick fresh one but Cindy did. Following her instruction cooking fresh peanuts, I cooked it with tablespoonful salt for about 30 minutes. I recalled that kitty commented that cooked peanuts were so much different from roasted one and she had never liked roasted one but liked cooked one. I enjoyed cooked peanuts more than roasted one because of its texture and could eat outside skin that contained good nutrition.

京東市場（キョンドン）漢方市場の道を一本隔てたところ。



野菜、果物、漬物、おかず、乾燥物、魚、肉、何でもある！

漢方市場を見て回った後に、道の反対側にこの市場があった。



周りの人にくっついて、入ってみると、いろんなものが売っている。

スーパーに比べてお値段は安い！　それに新鮮！　






見ているだけで楽しい！！　

結局いろいろ購入してしまい、帰りには両手いっぱいの荷物。



















桃、豆腐、サンチュ、松の実、スモモ、パプリカ、なす。

おかずは、カニの漬物（？）、蓮根のにもの、生海苔の和え物など。どれもおいしい。

京東市場の新鮮で、安くて、おいしいものを楽しんだ。







This is exciting place called Gyeong-dong market, Seoul. Gyeong-dong market sells not only herbs and medicines but also fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, dried foods, and so on. I thank for a graduate student, who is majoring Asian history, strongly recommended to visit Gyeong-dong market. I hope his future study in Kyoto is going well and can transfer to Waseda or other major institution smoothly for his advanced degree. I was happy introducing Gyeong-dong market to other foreign friends. Three foreigners including me so much enjoyed Korean local market and its taste.

韓国のおかし、おやつをいろいろと試してみた。

一番のお気に入りは、このホットク。호떡




ソウルの秋葉原といわれる竜山（ヨンサン）駅前の屋台。

おじさんが、型を使って焼いている。生地の真ん中にシナモンシュガー。

薄く円形に延ばして、型に入れる。出来上がりは、パリパリ、空洞。

韓国人の友人いわく、ホットクは大きく3種類。　このように型で焼く（伝統的）

仁寺洞あたりの油で揚げたドーナツのようなホットク。

そして、鉄板で焼いたもの。

今まで鉄板で焼いたものと油で揚げたものを食べたことがあった。揚げたものは油っぽい！

5月にこの型で焼いたホットクと初めて出会う。今回は2度目。

明洞でも買ったが、竜山のおじさんのものが一番。一緒に行った英国人達も大ファンに！

屋台は夕方からなので、4時以降に行かないと買えないことがわかった。

暑いけれど、食品の買出しは午後、そして、帰りにおじさんのホットクを購入！





カキ氷。

珈琲ショップでもカキ氷が売っている。

小豆、抹茶、果物、いろいろなトッピングで。

見た目は落雁？でも違う！　やわらかい。甘いけれど、苦味もあるような？？？

これは、見た目は綺麗、そして、お値段も安くはない、でもお味は？？？

庶民のお菓子、ホットクのほうが2重○！！



My favorite korean sweet / snack is Hottok baked by hottok-iron. There are 3 types of hottk, fried hottok, baked, and hottok-iron baked one. I came across favorite hottok vendor at front on Yongsan station. Korean friend says that this type of hottok is being called cheating hottok because no filling inside. Other residents from UK became fan of this air-filled hottok. We tried other vender’s one but we chose one in Yongsan is the best so far. I highly recommend you to get this cinnamon sugar hottok.

ソウルの漢方市場、京東市場（キョンドン）、ずっと行ってみたかったところ。

地下鉄、チェギドン駅で下車。　地元の人にくっついて地上に上がると、漢方のにおいが。



San Franciscoの中華街にある門より大きい門が、漢方街への入り口。

漢方薬、漢方食材があるある。










ただ難しいのは、ハングルで書かれていること。

見てすぐわかるものはいいけれど、そうでないものは、わからない！

棗、クコ、山薬、人参、鹿角、肉桂、などなど。






朝鮮人参も。

人参は紅参（ホンサム）のほうが人参より高価とのこと。

人参4年ものを買ってみた。　飲むには6回もじっくり蒸すのがいいといわれたが。

蒸すのは大変なので、お店で粉にしてもらった。







店主ははちみつに混ぜて飲むといいと。

人参の効能：　疲労回復、血圧調整、抗腫瘍作用、糖尿病治療など。

人参パワーで、健康！

苦いけど、試してみよう。



I first visited Gyeong-dong Herbal Medicine Market in Seoul by subway getting off at Chegidong station. I strongly smelled herb, Korean ginseng. Shops sell ginseng, jujube, Chinese wolfberry, dries Chinese yam, pine nuts, cinnamon and many more of dried herbs. I had difficulty understanding of herbs’ name written in hangul. If names were written in Chinese characters, I could know what it was. I could not describe the names of barks without Chinese characters.
I did not know the difference between red-ginseng and white-ginseng but price is different, red one costs more than white one. I bought 4 year old white ginseng and asked shop it ground. One package of 4 year old ginseng cost 32000 won.

ソウル市中心部、光化門地区。

数週間前に、この噴水と広場がオープン。



今まで16車線だったのを、10車線にして、この広場ができた。

有事のときは、滑走路になる予定で作られたソウルの幅の広い道路。

広場ができたということは、平和になったということかと。

どこから来るのか、親子連れでいっぱい。

暑いので、みんな噴水で水浴び。







写真で見ると涼しそう。でも、この場は暑かった。

水浴びの子供たちは、元気いっぱい。

Gwanghwamun Plaza construction was finally completed and the plaza opened for public few weeks ago. Ever since, it has been attracted people visiting the area. Children enjoy playing with fountains in these hot weather and mothers keep watching them. This plaza seems new attraction for children during summer break and also for visitors from outside Seoul. I was so hot being there with no shade.

市民美術館でRenoir 展が開かれているので、行ってみた。

平日の午前中、でも、夏休みが始まり、子供連れのお母さんたちもたくさんいる。




写真撮影は許されず。　これは日本と同じ。

米国、豪州は、撮影ＯＫなのに。

数枚が日本の美術館から来ていた。　

興味深かったのはフランスからの個人コレクション。

見たことのない、Renoirの絵を見ることができた。

すばらしかったのは、米国ワシントンＤＣからの青い服のご婦人の絵。

ＤＣで2度見たことがある。ソウルで再会。

赤い帽子の少女の絵は、マサッチューセッツ州WilliamstownのClark art instituteから。

Clark art instituteは、ボストンから西へ2−3時間、ＮＹ州との州境の地。

Renoirのすばらしいコレクションがある。

この赤い帽子の少女（正式な題名は不確か）とは、10年ぶり？の再会。



ソウルでは、このRenoir展の紹介ポスターをいろいろなところで目にする。



日本でも印象派は人気があるが、韓国でも同じようだ。



美術館の前で、タクシーを拾おうとしていたら、面白い像があった。

フランスのRenoirを楽しんだ後に、韓国の芸術を楽しんで帰宅。




Renoir Exhibition is held in Seoul city museum and his masterpieces are gathered from France, Japan, US and Europe. Exhibition was very nice and private collections from Europe were worth seeing. The girl wearing red hat traveled from Clark Art Institute, Williamstown,　Massachusetts and I clearly remembered the day I visited. I had long wanted to go Clark Art institute and their Renoir collection was unforgettable. I recalled that Babys’ faces and Onions painted by Renoir. Williamstown’s tranquil atmosphere really matched Renoir’s artworks in Berkshire. I highly recommend you to visit Clark Art institute if you like his work. It worth driving 2-3 hours for meeting Renoir’s artwork and Clark owns Sergent’s and Holmer’s. I was happy seeing Renoir paintings here in Seoul.

韓国海苔巻き、kimpab.

야채김밥　野菜海苔巻きがお気に入り。




卵、かに棒、ごぼう、たくあん、にんじん、きゅうりなど。７−８種類入っている。

ご飯より具が多い。

牛肉そぼろや、キムチ、ツナ海苔巻きもある。

注文するとその場で、巻いてくれる。

官庁街なので、昼は11時45分ごろから列ができる。

大量注文も来るようで、出前もしている。

具を入れて、巻き上がったら、刷毛でごま油をチョッと塗る。

そして一口大に切って、出来上がり。

1本ぺろりと食べられる。

ご近所の海苔巻き屋、すっかり大ファンに！　

ご馳走様！





I have been eating Korean styled rice roll for lunch not only location is close by but also freshness and healthy filling, vegetables. This Korean roll shop located across from Jongno office and I found this place by chance while I was taking a walk one morning. By locating offices, the roll shop closes on weekends. My favorite roll is vegetable roll and its filling was egg, cucumber, and so on-7-8 kind of vegetables. One roll looked a lot for one person but I had one for lunch. I often stop by for roll and became fan of their freshly made vegetable roll.

ソウル市鐘路区、大統領府の青瓦台の南。

以前、日本総督府があったところ。

それもかなり前に壊されて、ただいま整備中。

景福宮、とっても広いので、上から見ることに。

19階から写真を撮ったけれど、もっと上から撮りたかった。














I recalled that there was Japan’s occupational government office in this palace when I first visited Seoul in early 90s and was explained that the position of its office had hurt Koreans because it blocked original concept of palace. A friend of mine said that the architecture of the office was valued and it should have been preserved; however, the position office could not be accepted.
Though the palace is very big, I took photos of palace from rooftop of accommodation instead of visiting there. It is said that the area, Gwanbuk is tightly regulated constructions’ height for preserving historical scenery. It is said that not many people happy to live or own property there.

ソウル市鍾路区安国洞。

伝統家屋の残る地域。




教会の向かいが、伝統家屋。大統領の住居だったと紹介される。















教会の建物は、レンガ造り、その周りの建物は伝統住宅。

教会の建物の一部も、伝統家屋だ。

5月に100周年を祝った　안동교회。










この地域、ゆっくりとお散歩したかったが、何しろ暑い。

日本よりは涼しいのかもしれないが。

朝早くにお散歩するとしよう。




Summer greetings to you from Korea!
It had been rained heavily since I arrived here. The day I was at Anguk-dong, it was little sunny and humid; however, I took walk around church. Andong Pres Church celebrated their 100 years of history at this traditional village this May and they are proud of being a part of this area. Church member introduced me that the traditional house front of church was the resident of former Korean president. I was attracted its entrance and entrance roof as well as house roof. There was a traditional house front of brick church building owned by Andong church and it is used for some church activities. I will find out more about this area and its history though members.

果てしない海の広がり。

毎日海を見ているわけではないが、日本人には海がないと。

オハイオ州にいたとき、息苦しさを感じた。

目の前には、川幅の広いオハイオ川が広がっていて、部屋から見える。

でも、何か違う。







フィリピンから引っ越してきた女性は、オハイオには住めないとフロリダに行ってしまった。

休暇に東海岸のボストンへ、海が見えてほっとした。

タイの学生も、『ここにいると鳥かごの中にいるようだ』　といっていた。

確かに、圧迫感が。

日本にいても、毎日海を目にするわけではない。　

でも、海は大切な存在だと、気づく。

豪州の海辺に立つと、目の前の海をずっと行くと日本にたどり着く。

海から、パワーをいただいている。









Those photos were taken at beaches in Sydney and surrounding area facing to Pacific Ocean. One beach named Coogee and it means nine o’clock in Japanese. It is aboriginal words. I realized that the ocean or wide open areas are very important for me and I want to stay close to the ocean, water. In Ohio, I missed seeing water. How I was happy seeing ocean when I arrived at Logan airport, Boston. Unconsciously, I was longing for water during my stay in Midwest. I recalled our classmate, Lynette originally from Philippine moved to Florida with her husband because she could not stand living so far from water. If I did not live Midwest, I had never realized the importance of water. I thank God for His magnificent creation.

思いつきでできた人参チップ。

TVのお供に人参チップを、パリパリ。

何かに使えないかと考えた結果、パンに練りこんでみた。



人参チップをチョッと細かく砕いて、こねる。

久しぶりのストレス解消パン作り。

こねて、エイッと板にたたきつけて、またこねて。

人参チップ、それにレーズン、亜麻仁（flaxseed）も入れてみた。




材料：
強力粉　flour 2cups
全粒粉　whole wheat 1 cup
人参チップ　dried carrots 1/2 cup
レーズン　raisin 1/4 cup
亜麻仁　flaxseed 2 tablespoon
卵　 egg 1
葡萄種油　grape seed oil 2 tablespoon
塩　salt
砂糖　sugar
水　water 1 1/2 cup



あまっていた人参がチップに、そして、人参パンに変身！

こねてストレス解消。

お腹がすいたら、焼きたてのパン。

This is carrot and raison bread I baked at home today. I hope you enjoy seeing this but this cannot be delivered to where you live. When you visit me here, I would be happy to bake this bread for you or we can knead dough and put it in oven, then, enjoy fresh baked bread out from oven for breakfast. I hope you keep good health during summer and take plenty of rest after your heavy responsibility!!
I have been extremely busy and work is stressful. Doing something different from work such as baking releases stresses and it gives me joy and happiness. Have a great summer!!

ザーザーぶりの雨、何もする気も起こらず。



友人が、『どこに行きたい』と聞くので、思いつきで『中央高校』。

タクシーに乗り、友人『中央高校（チュアン）へ』と運転手に。

タクシー運転手『どこ』　といいながらナビで探し始める。『出てこない』

私『たしか安国駅の北のほう』　

友人『わからないから親戚に電話する。たしか、中央高校の卒業だと思う』　と。

やっと場所がわかり、中央高校へ。　学校の目の前まで行くと、タクシーが3台も止まっている。








みんな日本人。

友人『何で日本人がこの場所を知っているの』　　

私『冬ソナの学校だから』　『春川の学校は実はこの中央高校』

友人『知らなかった』

タクシーから降りて、中央高校の写真でも撮ろうと思ったが、校門からは校舎の一部しか見えない。

部外者は校門を入れない。

中央高校は私立の名門男子中学高等学校とのこと。




校舎は見られなかったが、この一帯には、韓国伝統家屋が、起伏の激しい土地に建っている。




( どうやら塾のよう、名門校の隣だから？）


中央高校のすぐ近くに、ユジンの家があるといわれ、その階段から、伝統家屋の屋根の写真を。

雨が降って、観光の雰囲気ではなかったが、この地域の家屋には雨が似合っている。

どの都市も、近代的な建物が増えているが、こんな建物はぜひ残してほしい地域。

雨は好きではないが、写真をみると、韓国の伝統家屋、雨との相性がいい。








Hi friends who addict to K-dramas!
This is Choongang boys’ junior and senior high school locates north of Seoul. When I got front of the school, we found Japanese tourists seeing the school. This is the high school where Winter Sonata was filmed. I thank Gumhee ssi, a long time friend of mine from Boston, taking me there and her brother-in-low who gave us direction to Choongang High School. The school building was beautiful and its architecture; however, we were not allowed entering school for photography. I was said that this school is one of top boys’ schools in Seoul and they seemed not expected to become so famous through the drama especially for Japanese Winter Sonata lover. Neighbors of school, owner of Yujin’s house, appealed to us with her little Japanese and tried to lead us to Yujin’s house. I was not interested in seeing the house but view of traditional house roofs were so much attracted to me with its shape. I was told that Korean president, Lee Myonbak ssi used to live one of Korean traditional house in this area until he was inaugurated as a president. It is very attractive residential area for me like tourists. Gwannam is well-known for good residential area in Seoul; however, I was attracted this area much more than Gwannam.

手ごろな値段で売っている人参。

ついつい手にとって買ってきている。　でも、使っていない！




気がつくと冷蔵庫に3パック。　外にも1パック。

時間もないので、何か作る余裕なし。

思いつきで、ピーラーを使って薄くしてみた。

サラダにしようか、炒めようかとおもっていたけど、オーブンへ。



乾燥できるかどうか試してみた。

100度で約1時間。　出来上がり。

チップになった。　　カリカリ、そして、甘い！！　

人参の甘みが乾燥で凝縮されたよう。　乾燥人参チップできあがり。

人参の栄養、βカロチンも、手軽に摂取。

油で揚げた、人参チップは見たことがあったが、これは油なし。

健康おやつとして、大活躍しそう！！

乾燥人参チップを切り干し大根を煮るときに、入れてみた。　いろいろと使えそう。



This is oven dried carrots, turned to healthy vegetable snack. It is also used cooked with other vegetables such as dried daikon, radish. Fried vegetable chip was sold at some stores but this did not use any oil. Dried carrots needs to be stored in container and it can be used your creative dish as well as garnish. I enjoyed it as snack and like its sweet natural taste. Overstocked carrots turned to healthy beta-carotene snack!!

韓国でいろいろおいしいものを食べようとおもっていたら。

例の仁寺洞の栗にあたった（と韓国人は言う）らしく、2日間食欲なし。

ハワイで生牡蠣にあたったことはあったが、ボストンでもどこでも、怪しいものを食べても平気だったのに。

生ものでもない“栗”　にあたる？　原因は定かではないが。



おいしいものがいっぱいの韓国で、食べた数少ない料理。

珍しかったのは、　”動くタコ！！“　　これにはびっくり！

箸でつまんで、口に入れようかなと思うと、吸盤で箸にくっつく！

口に入れたと思ったら、口の中でくっついた！

“　とっても新鮮！”

お味は、“　とっても生きのいいタコの刺身！”

人間って何でも食べるなと、食べているのにそんなことをふと思った。

鮮度の良いタコから、タウリンを十分に摂取。

初めて、韓国人宅滞在。　

普通の家庭の普通に食べている朝食をいただいた。

自家製のコチュジャンは、市販のものと違い、味に深みがあった。

ご馳走様でした！！





I had known that Koreans eat moving octopus and I had it in Korea. Fresh octopus was cut 3-4 centimeters each and they were still moving, super-fresh live octopus was on dish. It was served with kochujyang, red-pepper paste with vinegar. I most enjoyed Korean home-styled breakfast at friend’s house prepared by friend’s mother. Varieties of vegetable were served: few kimchees, cooked and pickled vegetables, and some fermented seafood. I most enjoyed soup-kimchee.

ソウル郊外、京義道コヤン市。

ソウルまで通勤圏内の郊外の住宅地。




韓国はサウナが結構有名。これもサウナの一種のようだが、まるで、窯(かま)。

連れて行ってくれた韓国人は　『　これはオーブンのようなもの　』

『　普通のサウナと違って、炭を焼いた窯の中に入るので、遠赤外線　』

『　体が芯から温まり、疲れが取れる　』

サウナはあまり好きではなかったが、体験してみた。

ここは、窯の中に木を入れ、炭を焼き、その炭を取り出したあとの窯に入る。

つまり、“炭の窯サウナ”。










1番が一番温度が高い、5番目に入ってみた。

10分くらいすると、じんわりと暖かくなって、汗が出てきた。

入ったり出たりを繰り返して、1時間ほど体験。

炭の遠赤効果で、芯から温まり、疲れも吹っ飛んだ。

This is Korean styled natural sauna in Goyan city, where locates northwest from Seoul city. I was taken to this charcoal sauna by locals one afternoon. Trees were burned inside of this round shaped sauna bath or dome and then charcoals ware brought out to outside. This rounded dome was just like pizza oven. There are more than 5 “ovens” in this sauna place and people choose “oven” depending on temperature. Number one oven is the hottest one and number 5 is mild. It is said that people usually stay there for few hours for relaxing. I had never enjoyed sauna bath; however, I enjoyed this so much.

韓国ドラマでは、よく見る結婚式。

実際の韓国の結婚式、はじめて体験！




韓国ドラマでは、良縁は、家柄、学歴、そして、大企業に就業だと。

このカップルも、まるでドラマ。　

新婦の親はドラマのように、この結婚に大反対。　

3年半ほど、ドラマのような反対劇が続き。

2人はとうとう強行に婚姻届を提出。　

それが両親の反対をさらに強め。

泥沼に。

両親は、最後は仕方なく許可。

許可したあとは、結婚式を急げ！　と、なり、結婚式が行われた。




洋式結婚式のあとに、伝統的な結婚式。

驚いたことに、伝統結婚式は、新郎の家族のみ出席。

現在二人は、パラオで新婚旅行。

最後は、ドラマのように、ハッピーエンド。

お幸せに！

















This is my friend’s wedding in Seoul, Korea. Their way to the wedding day took time because of disapproval of bride’s parents and it often appeal in Korean dramas. I was a privilege to be invited the couple’s wedding which was my first experieice attending Korean wedding. Moreover, traditional Korean wedding ceremony was unique especially the couple’s costumes, ritual and only groom’s family and relatives can take part in the traditional ceremony. The couple’s long way to the marriage was finally completed that day and I hope their happiness in future.

米国ワシントン州ヤキマの友人宅で食べた木耳料理。

日本から、SF, そして、シアトルへ、それから車で２時間、やっとヤキマに到着。

到着した夜、友人がこの料理を出してくれました。




豚ヒレ肉と、なにやら黒い物体。　椎茸かなと思ったら木耳。

お腹はすいていなかったのに、おいしくて、パクパクと！

作り方は簡単。

材料は木耳と、豚ヒレ肉。　これだけ。

あとはソース。

ソースは、ウスターソース、オイスターソース、ケチャップ、黒酢。胡椒を入れても可。

今回はコチュジャンと漁醤（ナンプラー）を加えた。

多国籍ソースを混ぜて、お好みになるよう味見。

キャセロールか、耐熱皿、または、大きなケーキ型(丸型でも四角でも)。

そこにオリーブオイルをチョッとひき、ヒレ肉をいれる。

水で戻しておいた木耳を肉の周りに、そして多国籍ソースをかけてオーブンへ。

ホイルをして、１７０度位で、１時間くらい入れておくだけで出来上がり。（肉の大きさによる）


木耳の効能

食物繊維、ミネラル、膠質、高い鉄分含有

血液浄化作用、高血圧、動脈硬化、痔、潰瘍、貧血、高血圧、抗がん、防がん、潤肺、美肌


ヒレ肉はぽろぽろ、木耳は、多国籍ソースを吸収してプリプリ。

脇役の木耳、この料理では主役！

簡単でおいしい！

This is one of my favorite dishes; it is not only tasty but also easy to cook. I was introduced this pork fillet with black wood ear fungus at Yakima, Washington few years ago at friends’ house. When we were served this after the long flight from Japan via San Francisco and Seattle, I was not hungry at all; however, this was so good especially with cooked rice. Wood ear is usually used for stir fry and it cannot be main ingredients. In this dish, wood ear and pork fillet are the main ingredients and special sauce is just added. Wood ear fungus is good for blood purification, lung disease, high blood pressure, and it contains high in fiber, mineral, and iron. I thought I should eat this for help maintaining health. シドニー郊外の町、Cabramatta, カブラマッタ。

この町の第一印象、　“サンフランシスコみたい！”

店も、売られている新鮮野菜・果物、中華食材、それに人々の活気も。













豪州の物価はＳＦに比べると、高いけれど、ここCabramattaはシドニー市内より割安。

値段より何より、全てのものの鮮度が本当にいい！

シドニー北部、Chatswoodやシドニー市内とは比較にならない。

特に魚はシドニー魚市場より鮮度がいいのが、見てわかる。

＊（シドニー魚市場、とても築地の2番手とは思えない品揃えと鮮度）

友人に案内してもらい、見学のつもりだったが、結局買い物をしてしまい、重くて見学中止！

新鮮果物、野菜、魚介類、中華食材を購入し、Cabramatta見学終了。

何度でも行ってみたい活気ある町！

購入食材でお腹も満足、町から元気もいただいた！！

This town is called Cabramatta, where locates about 20-25 kilometers west from Sydney downtown. I got very excited visiting Cabramatta and it is very much like Stockton Street between Washington Street and Broadway, San Francisco. As you see those photos taken there, you will feel vitality. Things are sold in shops so fresh just like shops on Stockton Street. At Asian food shop, I purchased dried peanuts, crispy dried jack fruits for snacks, fruits and so on. Quality of seafood in Cabramatta was very nice and it was actually much better than Sydney Fish Market. I have not tasted dim sum there, unfortunately, and would like to have it next time.

杏仁粉と小麦粉　どちらも1/2 cup　入った杏仁タルト。

そのほかの材料は、卵１個、ヨーグルト３さじ、マーガリン1/3cup,　砂糖1/3cup.

BP小さじ１．

1つは、シナモンと一緒に煮込んだ青りんご。　

りんごの色がシナモンの茶色になってしまい、チョッと見た目はよくない。

もう１つは、レーズン、プルーンをレモン汁を入れて５分ほど煮込んだもの。

豪州のピーカンを脇にチョッと。

焼く前は、具を均等にのせたのに、焼きあがったら、あれれ。

沈んだところあり、盛り上がったところあり。




どちらも焼いている間の杏仁のやさしい香りが。

見た目はいまいちですが、食べたらおいしかった。

杏仁粉１００％の薬膳効果で、気管支も調子いいかも。


This is one of my favorite recipes with grounded apricots seeds or apricot heart, seed inside of seed shell. It is effective for bronchitis and is sold most stores in Chinatown or Chinese herb shop; however, it is difficult to find ground one. I think this tart can go with any fruits or nuts, please try whatever you choose and let me know how it goes. I would like to try something new with this apricots seed’s tart. Dried apricots and prune was the best so far and I thing citrus fruits or peach may taste good.

気温25度以上、外でのＢＢＱ。



食材は、lamb（ラム肉）, beef（牛肉）, shrimp（蝦）。

どれも体を温める温性食品。

まだ暖かいが、豪州の初秋、冬に向けて温性食材でＢＢＱ．

後日、Lamb の生産者と話す機会があり、

生産者　『　日本にラムをどんどん販売したい　』　

私　『　どんな風に料理するといいんですか　』

生産者　『　オーブンでロースト、または、ＢＢＱが一番おいしいね。』

私　『　日本ではオーブンがない住宅もあるので、フライパンを使ったほうが。』

生産者　『　それは知らなかった。ラムはフライパンで料理することはほとんどない』　

私　『　薬膳の本によると、羊肉は体を温める食材なので、冷え性の私は食べたほうが良い』

生産者　『　はじめて聞いた！！　いいこと教えてくれてありがとう　』

私　『　フライパンを使ったラムのおいしい調理方法も、日本に伝えてください』











A friend cooked lamb, beef, swordfish, ocean trout and prawn for dinner. All of them were delicious especially lamb and prawn. When I had opportunity speaking with lamb producer who wants to sell lamb to Japan, he recommended me the best way of cooking lamb is that roasting or grilling. I wanted to suggest him that he should introduce way of cooking lamb by flying pan which is the most popular cooking tool in Japan. I have never seen BBQ grill in Japan that you can see in the States or Australia. Lamb helps body warm and it is written in Chinese medicine cooking and ingredients book. I should eat lamb especially during cold winter. This grilled lamb was very soft, juicy and did not smell at all, so, I could enjoy lamb more than beef. Sliced lamb could be good with Korean BBQ seasoning.

The annual award reception of Rebecca Cooper foundation was held at dinner cruise ship in Sydney Bay. Those photos were taken at rooftop of cruise ship. My first night view shooting somehow went well and shaking helped to create natural artwork. Those photos may not describe as Sydney high-rise buildings but it has charm to me. I like the first one like butterflies and other shootings because I don’t think I can shoot the same photos next time. Hope you enjoy seeing those, unsuccessful photos, Sydney skyscraper, Opera House and Harbor Bridge view from Sydney Bay.

豪州で英国風お茶に招待され、行ってみました。

英国人をルーツに持つ友人も、『英国以外で、ハイティーに行ったことはない』　と。

昔、シンガポールで、“シンガポール風ハイティー”　は経験済みですが。

英国系豪州人の友人と日本人の私は、“豪州のハイティー体験”　に。

友人が探してきた、“ハイティー屋”　（英国風お茶屋？）。

シドニー市内の東側にある　“Victoria Room” へ。




『紅茶の前にシャンパンをいただくのが伝統的』　といわれ、シャンパンから開始。

そのあとに、紅茶の茶葉を選んで、お茶とお菓子が出てきた。

豪州で、英国伝統のお茶を体験。

現地友人と共に、英国のお茶文化を体験した。





向かいに、もっこりとしたアイスクリーム屋さん！


This is Victoria room in Darlinghurst for traditional British high tea. It is explained that High tea starts for a glass of campaign and tea is served after that with finger food; sandwich, small sized pastries, and scones. At Victorian room, 80-90% of guests were women and they enjoy chatting with their friends on Saturday afternoon. It reminded me of Chinese dim sum place on weekends with crowds.
I thank for a friend of mine introducing this place experiencing British tea culture and etiquette. I would like to try other tea room next time. Regarding of finger food, I liked homemade lemon tart very much!! Thank you!

シドニー市内から電車で西へ20ｋｍほどの郊外。

Bankstown.　バンクスタウン。

市内まで所要時間は35分ほど、通勤便利な住宅地。



駅前には、大きなショッピングモール、さまざまな商店、飲食店。

ベトナム料理店に入ると、お客さんはほとんどベトナム語で話している。（と思う）



駅南側には、ベトナム系、アジア系商店が立ち並んでいる。

八百屋、肉屋、果物や、雑貨や、ベトナムサンドイッチのお店、　サトウキビジュースのお店。

サトウキビジュース、最高でした！！！



スパイス専門のお店。　ここはアラブ系のお店だった。

ベトナム料理店も多く、本場のベトナム料理を楽しむことができた。






















I first visited Bankstown, a western suburb of Sydney, where a friend of mine lives. Bankstown locates 30-40 minutes from CDB, residential area. I got excited seeing shops front of Bankstown station. There are pastry shops; Asian supermarket, Vietnamese sandwich shop, fruits and vegetable shops and they all look good. I enjoyed Vietnamese sandwich and 100% fresh squeezed　sugar cane juice. Sugar cane juice was SO good and I went back for few times. Sugar cane is produced northern part of Australia and the juice was refreshing in hot temperature.
Surrounding of Bankstown station is fun for shoppers because of Centro Bankstown shopping mall and local shops including pasty shops and café. I wish I could taste some pastry.
