Aussie lamb shank was tender and tasty and Tasmania and King¡Çs Island cheese as well. Hand picked strawberries became perfect dessert after having meat dish.
I first had lamb at friend¡Çs house long time ago. A friend made lamb meat ball with strong aroma¡Çs herbs such as rosemary and she grilled it. It was well done and tastes good but I could slightly smelled lamb. I liked aroma of herbs but it was not enough to remove its smell. Aussie lamb does not have any strong smell, so it does not require any herb. I became a great fun of Aussie lamb.

We visited Mornington Peninsula, about an hour and half from Melbourne. Our main purpose today was taking a nice bath and having relaxed time. I was a bit cold being outside towards to pool. I did not know that Australian people like onsen, hot springs like Japanese. Around at noon, the hot springs got crowded with locals. I came across a couple in 50s whose life had been busy taking care of relatives; so, they came for relaxing. On our way to shower room, I found hot springs pool behind the main building. Water was much cleaner and no one there for bath. I enjoyed nice and clean bath by myself under the sun. The winery visit recalled me of one in Hunter Valley; however, no kangaroo!!

These are photos taken on Great Ocean Road, well-known for Twelve Apostles, magnificent rock stacks about 4 hours south from Melbourne, Victoria. When we approached there, it was not clear but sun came out when we reached 12 Apostles. The coast line was similar to California Coast from Monetary to south; however, those magnificent natural curved rocks were amazing natural creature. Twelve Apostles or other natural creatures always show God¡Çs creation and it tells how human beings are small and powerless.

On our way to the Great Ocean Road, I was pointed wild koalas resting at eucalyptus trees. Most of them rolled their body and they looked taking a nap. It was my first time seeing wild koalas in the woods. I got of from car and had tried to take photos. I have seen koalas few times at Koala Park and they did not attract me because of their character and its slow-movement; however, coming across wild koalas were exciting opportunity. They are unique animals! I think I like kangaroo better than koala.

We chose this brewery for our first Aussie dining in Melbourne. I enjoyed their brewed black beer and a friend also chose it after tasting several beers. Black, or dark colored beer I first tasted was at Asahi beer factory in Ebisu long time ago and it tasted good. The factory visit with internationals was a fond memory because the factory is no longer there. We were the last factory tour visitors and the factory turned into Ebisu Garden Place.
After having Aussie burger, we went to Costco in Docklands to see items Costco sells in Australia. It was fun for me comparing with Costco US, Korea, Japan and Australia.

My first visit to Melbourne has started from Collins Street. Tram brings visitors Melbourne¡Çs CBD and its neighborhood. I liked the tram there and thought its system was better than one in Sydney. Visitors just sit on tram and see landmarks of city. I enjoyed taking tram ride and walking around compact city on foot under the sun. I was very disappointed visiting Chinatown there. I was going to eat good Chinese food but Chinese people working there said that there was no good Chinese restaurant there. The Chinatown recalled me of Japan town in San Francisco - not lively, less people, few Japanese residents. Instead of Chinese dinner, we had Aussie one at brewery. I do not recommend Chinatown, Melbourne.

On my way back from Geelong, I saw a beautiful sunset and its orange, blue mixed sky recalled me of the sky which Mhyok was sitting on the park with hopeless feeling. I was not looking for trace of ¡ÈI am sorry I love you¡É but scenes shot in Melbourne was impressive and it popped up in my mind. Unche¡Çs rainbow colored knit dress stood out among dark colored outfits which locals wore. I should re-watch MISA in first 2 episodes shot in Melbourne.

It was a good surprise finding LaBrea bread at Costco this morning. I went there to purchase whole wheat and cinnamon raisin bagel. Right after I got it, I saw crowds-mostly young housewives eating samples of bread. I usually avoid crowds but I went forward to look the loaves. It was LaBrea bread, multigrain one! There was sourdough, olive and one more kind. I recalled Gail often chose LaBrea bread at Safeway when she had dinner functions. I liked LaBrea sourdough loaves and Italian Ciabatta. Gail usually uses Ciabatta bread when she makes sandwiches with pesto paste, grilled eggplants and ham. That was very good her gourmet sandwich. I will check more hard bread in Australia sometime next week with Ruthie from San Francisco.

JUSCO Taman Maruli locates in front of Taman Maruli Station. It is only 20 minutes away from Ampang Park and it was crowed with local shoppers. Size of JUSCO there is large, 2 stories. I got interested seeing house ware especially china wares such as dishes and utensils. However, grocery on the 1st floor was so much fun to spend time. JUSCO-private brand products are sold such as honey, and peanut butter. I found norimaki and sushi sold well. JUSCO even sells unagi don.

Approaching to the exit of Taman Botani by tram, Moroccan building appeared. Tram stopped at front gate whose appearance is detailed and thick in beige color. I was told that it was a Moroccan architecture built by using imported materials from Morocco. Mosaic floor there recalled me of one in Iwasaki Garden in Yushima, Tokyo. I first experienced entering Islamic building and was asked to take off shoes. Room arrangement in this Moroccan architecture is similar to Korean traditional houses placed a garden in center. I enjoyed my first Islamic building in Malaysia! Thank you Artha.

I was taken to Taman Botani in Putrajya to see native plants in Malaysia. There are a lot of native plants including golden coconuts, and other plants that even Malaysians don¡Çt know the name. The guide said that golden coconuts taste different from regular green coconuts. Of course, we were not allowed to pick any fruits and plants there but I wish I could get one. On our way to Botani, I saw mango trees were planted in homes. It would be nice to pick up ripen mangos for breakfast or dessert. I was very much appreciated those greens here in Malaysia. It reduces one¡Çs stress. I wish I have mango or baby banana tree in my home garden.
A Happy New Year of 2012!! I wish your happiness throughout this year.
I thank you very much for your thoughts and prayers for me, us, and Japan especially last year¡Çs massive disasters.

My food tour on Malaysia has been good and fruitful. On Christmas Eve at Chinese Malaysian church in Petaling jaya, before the Eve service 2 big beautifully roasted pigs were delivered to church dining. I was astonished to see it, so, running in to kitchen for photo shooting. A Chinese Malaysian told me that the roasted pig is served for very special occasion such as wedding. A member of church donated it for special day: Christmas Eve dinner. I have never tasted it of course and could not imagine the taste of it. It was delicious. The skin was little salty and was crispy, meat was tender. I did not enjoy Peking duck but this roasted pig was delicious.
Isetan here sells a lot of Japanese food including imported sashimi from Japan. I try not eating Japanese but got soba and salmon rolls today for try. Salmon rolls and sushi was okay and I will taste tempura and soba for this evening.
Have a great New Year¡Çs Eve!!

I am so happy to eat fresh local fruits; mangos, mangosteen, durian, rambutan, and bananas. It is very reasonable price and it is sold not only supermarket but also side walks. I have been eating various kind of mangos with Greek yogurt and it is really good dessert. I am going to eat fresh local fruits as much as I can during my stay in Malaysia. Angela who was in Singapore had said that left over seeds were good in health. It must be so because a fruit like rambutan has little meat but big seed. The meat looks protecting the big seed contained nutrients.

On Jalan Ampang Street, there is a high and quite big rambutan tree nest to Brunei King¡Çs summer house. I have not eaten rambutan long time. I first had it in Singapore in early 90s and have ever eaten since then. The tree is pretty color combination; green and red, like Christmas color. Every time I pass by this tree, I think I need to get rambutan in Malaysia. There are a lot of tropical fruits here.
Green and red color reminded me Christmas time.
Merry Christmas to you from Malaysia!!! I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas. May God bless you and your family graciously. I will pray for your good health throughout coming year.

Through checking parks in Tokyo, I learned that there was the highest mountain inside of Yamanote line in Toyama Park near Waseda University Toyama campus.
I had gone to the campus for lunch and exercise; however, I have never had chance visiting Toyama Park. There was hill like mountain called Kamakurayama there and I could see high rise buildings in Shinjyuku from the top. Before that, stopped at Okuma hall but could not enter the campus. I recalled my memories at Takada library for graduate students, old students¡Ç building and cafeteria at Okuma. Campus got nice with new class rooms but I hope university preserve some old class rooms with charms. Waseda area had been changed: Waseda Jitsugyo School moved out and Abe baseball field turned into Chuo library and so on.

Aussie pie at Easter Show held in Olympic Park was memorable and was good. Angela and her husband highly recommended me experiencing Aussie pie. The pie I had was meat pie with mushroom. Pie crust was just perfect, not greasy. Since I had eaten the Aussie pie, I did not come across delicious pie. One of my aims this time in Australia was that I wanted to find good Aussie pie. At dinner one evening, a local person recommended the Harry¡Çs café. I thank Trelly for taking me to Harry¡Çs café for Aussie pie and tiger pie we ordered was good. I had pie at Adriano Zumbo in Manly, their pie contained potatoes and
about 4 chunks of meat. It tasted like beef stew.

While I was heading to Shelly¡Çs Beach from Manly Wharf, I stopped for taking photos. After taking few shoots, I had waited for some waves coming. Unexpectedly, small wave there recalled me of the vast tsunami by NHK live report on March 11th. I soon got scared seeing small wave and got uncomfortable being there. My pleasant day at Manly in the beginning turned into unpleasant one. I felt we need more time to accept massive earthquake and tsunami but it will remain in us.

This harbor is not far from Wooloomooloo. We visited friends who were ready for leaving practice sailing for coming sailboat race sometime. A lot of sailboats were anchored in this sailing boat club. We came across 3 teenage-boys there, fishing between boats. Surprisingly, one boy caught a fish looked like a kind of snapper with light blue dots on body. Right after I took photos of fish, he released a fish. I wish I could have joined with them for fishing.

Seen from above, most landmark of Sydney such as Harbor Bridge and Opera House appear front of me. I like the view from this place. I can even see ships in Sydney Harbor from this window. It is good noting to do but just sitting and viewing city. Fruits bats fly out from tree in the evening and they proceed to south with making strange noise. It is also interesting scene in Sydney. If it were onsen, I would be very happy!!

I had never visited Sydney in spring. Jakaranda¡Ç light purple colored flowers were fully bloomed all over the place. The flower must be like sakura in Japan. Seen from distance, it was very pretty. When I visit Sydney, I miss Japan, Korea, and Taiwan¡Çs better transpiration system especially commuter card. Public transportation there in Sydney does not have convenient microchip card system such as Pasmo, T-money card in Korea and Yoyu-card in Taiwan. I took bus several times but had to purchase pre-pay round trip ticket. The poor transportation system discourages me taking buses. Bus ride is actually fun for visitors because we can see city. I hope they start smart card for bus, ferry and train ride sometime soon for convenience for public transport riders.

I long wanted to visit Sonbuk area, next to Jongno-gu. By bus from Jongno police Station, it is about 15 minutes to get there. Take maul bus #1 or 2 to Sonbuk community center and this Hanok is next to the community center. The house was owned by a famous writer and it now belongs to his grandson who operates traditional tea house. Danbi, Kippum and I enjoyed casual conversation and peaceful atmosphere one summer afternoon with traditional tea, with traditional sweets-hard dried sliced ginger and puffy pastry.

Moshi, shellfish is a big hit during my Seoul stay this summer. I found moshi at Noryanjin fish market, Seoul. Noryanjin fish market sells fish caught in Busan, just all over the South Korea and foreign counties. It is difficult to remember name of fish in Korean but moshi was easy. Taste of moshi is like shijimi but its umami is richer than shijimi. I became a big fan of moshi. Soon after having moshi soup, I went back to the fish market for getting more moshi. Abalone and sea urchin tasted good but they wont beat moshi.

Kim Chong Yung Museum locates in Pyonchangdong, Jongno-gu, 15 minutes away from Gwanhamun. Ms. Lee did not know this museum, so, she joined with me. After having kalbi soup at Nakwon dong, 1st floor of Fraser Suites, we headed to the museum. The area called Pyonchangdong and it was beautiful residential area in Seoul. You can find beautifully designed houses that often appeared in Korean dramas. I noticed passing a house showed in Stairway to Heaven nearby Kim Chong Yung Museum. At the museum, meeting with a grandson of Artist Kim from New York was interesting because he shared some stories of his grandfather and his creativity of artworks. A daughter of artist Kim also shared and introduced his father¡Çs artwork. I would like to see his calligraphy and water color sometime in my future visit.

Jongno-gu,Buamdong is the place where My name is Kim Samsoon was filmed. With local students, I arrived at Buamdong community center by bus #7022. It took about 10 minutes from Gwanhamun and Anguk area. I was asked for coffee at popular coffee shop recommended by students; however, the coffee shop was in Buamdong, Jongno-gu. We could not find the house that Samsoon was filmed but enjoyed seeing Samsoon¡Çs neighborhood. The area is knows not only Samsoon drama but also Seoul¡Çs great wall and Seoul¡Çs overlooking city view. Coffee taste at Café Espresso was softened by interests of Samsoon but I would love to go back to Buamdong for strolling. I thank Kippum ssi and Dambi ssi for a good time at Buamdong.

Korean people tend to choose Korean produce but price of Korean produce is higher than imported one; however, people buy it. I found price difference between Korean produce and others at local market when I looked peanuts and pine nuts. Local pine nuts was expensive. I recalled that Korean peanuts I bought last year at agricultural shop was tasty, so, I chose Korean peanuts and pine nuts. I completed shopping at local market with full of local produce; peanuts, pine nuts, dried cod, seaweed, kelp, peaches, eggplants, cucumbers and paprikas.

Ms. Lee, more than 50-years-resident of Jongno-gu, has never known Blue House saranche, so, we decided to go to saranche for lunch. Surprisingly, taxi drivers did not know saranche. We got on taxi and Ms. Lee guided driver to go to Blue House. Usually, taxi driver does not want to go the area because of tight security. I like to have lunch at saranche because of open space with greens, beautiful walls of Kyongbok Palace, and atmosphere of saranche café. We ordered Chonjyu bibimbab and it¡Çs 8000 won. Café provided more than 10 dishes this time and it improved. Ms. Lee was very satisfied with lunch and atmosphere of saranche.

Insadong Street attracts most tourists so the street is alive with them. I have been there many times but can find something new when I go. Gallery turned into tea shop and tea house on the street and the shop demonstrates how to make green tea leaf. Customers can taste the green tea on the second-floor tea house. Displayed Koran chinaware in the shop was beautiful. Strolling Insadong has charm and back alleys as well. I found a handmade jewelry shop, hanok and hanshik place in back alley.

I visited Police Museum in Seoul, next to Seoul History museum on Semunan-ro. When you are here in Jongro-gu, you come across policemen few times a day for sure. They guard embassies, state organizations in Jongno-gu. I feel secure seeing them wherever I go in Jongno-gu. I thank Jongno Police not only their duty but also for their community service. The Police museum is educational and it is good for children learning about police. Visitors can experience fingerprint taking and montage photograph making.

Record rainfall swept city away and killed more than 70 people. Sejong-ro became like river. My way to Yonsei university in Sodemun-gu was not bad traffic; however, Sejong-ro and most main street in Seoul had heavy traffic jam caused by downfall. In Gwannamu, landslide occurred and killed more than 10 people. Some people living a single family home in Jongno-ku had severe leak of the roof.
Global warming should be concerned more seriously. People suffered by downfall but trees looked happy with plenty of water. Seeing greens make me happy as well. Have a great summer and winter!
